Rvach thank you for your work. I think this community has experienced enough failed attempt mod projects hence the low interest. also there aren't many of us left, I believe that can be temporarily if such a mod where to be completed. the word here is completion. I think it is great to gather people aka developers at this stage, wouldn't expect much interest from players themselves yet. goals for later :-) if you want something to succeed it starts with a good idea. what I can say is sbro's idea is a shared one. talking about anti-cheat suppose it is a good time to ask yourselves at the start which engine to choose or wonder how reallistic it is to realise some sort of anti-cheat later down the road. any online competing game needs one. @kingz as for graphics watch this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io920ID423A If i'm not mistaken this is on the same engine. |

Could you, please, give me some more feedback? What OS and Antivirus do you have? It is possible that launcher has no access to the internet (may be banned by OS Network Policy or Antivirus). To check this idea, go to launcher directory and check game folder, it should look like this: Spoiler: click to toggle Try to delete this folder (game) or just its content and start the launcher again.
I totally agree with you, but I myself cannot make it complete. Its unreal, so I will follow your suggestion and try to look for other devs for help. sbro's idea, it is really great but it cannot be done with my approach...
Xonotic uses Darkplaces, while I'm using FTEQW. |

Windows 8.1, with Avast. When I deleted the game folder, and started run.bat, I saw the updating bar. After it finished loading, Start/Join/Create game buttons became available, but again nothing happens when I press them. ^This is about run.bat located in the main folder. If I launch run.bat from the "game" folder, it launches a full screen game, but it has quake-like weapons and servers. |

Thanks for the response. Something strange is happening... If you launch run.bat from "game" folder it should start HLAG correctly. Yes, there is quake-style menu and server browser but, when you start game, all content should be like on the videos I've posted earlier (non-quake). Can you try "map lost_village2", for instance? It is very strange that Start/Join/Create buttons does not change views of the launcher. Do Create/Join buttons from the top menu works? Please, If you can, try to download full client (all the game and launcher data is packed there): HLAG full. |

Sounds good but the problem is that all art has to be remade (and hopefully make the game look and feel good)... i couldn't do better but i'd suggest to make good looking red, blue and default model first. Release the game without any viewmodels (because current models don't look good) instead work on weapon sounds and crosshairs. I'd also suggest to build maps with high res grate textures first. Then work on map's art one after another. Map textures should at least be 512x512 pixel to make this blocky game look at least a bit fresh. What will the art style be like? I'd suggest to make it feel like realistc sci-fi. Personally I'd love the game to look like cod:mw2 in terms of lighting, colors and textures but I guess a slightly painted look like original HL would be nice aswell. |

Yes, I realize that the arts should be remade but keep in mind that this is prototype the aim of which to show mechanics and highlight present/future features. As for working on visuals... I'm a programmer, even taking into account that I have some 3D modelling background, I cannot handle all the work myself, because I have to work and not to forget to spent some time with my growing family :) At this moment there is no need to work hard on code but on maps, models and textures. One exception is UI, mainly that is why I decided to use external launcher. This is why I'm stuck as switching working activities is not where I'm good at as I'm work inefficiently in such conditions. If you have some ideas where and how I can find some help, I'll be grateful. I totally forgot to mention features/goals of this project. Here some brief list of features divided onto categories Done/WIP/Planned: <Already done or can be done in two clicks> - make a more or less modern remake of HLAG - crossplatform (at least Windows/Linux and Android for at lest watching live/recorded matches) - config editor <WIP> - matchmaking, platform for making tournaments/championships - social network (players/teams/news/events/chatting) - statistics gathering and handling <Planned> - extended crossplatform (browser client for watching and embedding live/recorded matches) - workshop, map editing/ map generator - work on visuals (utilize as many features of FTEQW as possible, see Xonotic which is developed using Darkplaces, which is a very close to FTEQW in term of visuals) - new player/weapon/item models - streaming - anticheat - integrate Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) and get rid of external launcher (not sure about that at the moment as many features do not require running game and I do not want to make anybody waiting 30s just to check some stuff, also I do not want to make simple things bigger and harder to maintain and support) Maybe I've missed something and definitely this list will be rearranged, but at the moment I have something like this in my mind.
